Our Dixwell Avenue office offers the medical and mental health services you need right where you live. From critical early childhood programs like Birth to Three to internal medicine to treatment for drug and alcohol addiction, the Dixwell site is there to meet all of your healthcare needs. And there are also evening appointments available, making it easy to be seen at a time that is convenient for you.
Groups and Classes
If you are in the process of recovering from an addiction, our Acu-detox group may be for you. Acu-detox is a treatment that uses the 5-point N.A.D.A. protocol for auricular acupuncture. It has been proven to help in the process of recovery by decreasing cravings and increasing your sense of calmness so that better decisions can be made.
This is an outpatient group designed to help clients learn techniques to express and manage anger without engaging in hostile/destructive behaviors.
If the symptoms of anxiety are impacting your daily life, this group may be for you. In this group you will learn to effectively identify and manage anxiety symptoms using various techniques. You will also learn how to cope with symptoms when they arise and how to decrease the negative impact of anxiety symptoms on overall daily functioning.
Empowerment Group for Women
In this group for women, you will build your confidence, self-worth and self-esteem. Our focus will be on identifying your strengths and assertiveness and learning to use these skills in everyday situations where you may feel disempowered.
Grief and Loss
As a participant in this group you will receive the help you need to work through the feelings associated with a significant loss. You will also participate in healing-focused activities that will promote the development and utilization of healthy coping skills.
This group is for adults who are in need of assistance with improving their parenting skills and/or support in order to solve issues related to being a parent or grandparent.
If you have a history of substance abuse but have committed to behavioral changes and implemented steps to achieve these goals, this group may be for you. In this group you will increase your knowledge of the skills you need to maintain long-term sobriety, identify the pros and cons of relapse and sobriety and explore the core issues that impact substance use.
This group is for clients who have a history of depressive symptoms. During this group you will learn to effectively identify and manage symptoms of depression, implement appropriate strategies for coping with symptoms as they arise and decrease the negative impact of symptoms of depression on overall daily functioning.
If you are living with chronic medical problems, our Wellness group can help. This group will help you understand the mind/body connection, reduce alienation and negative self-talk related to living with chronic illness and pain, and empower you to manage stressors appropriately and live a more satisfying life.
